17 August Brian, Roger and Ben Elton showed up in Dominion theatre on a special We Will Rock You musical show. On 13th August it exceeded previous highest playing musical Grease (3 years 3 months)
Roger was the one to attain the Top Gear award for Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now" song as the best Car Driving song.
TOP GEAR: Of course we did have an award made but then we ran into a bit of a problem. We did, because you see Brian May, the guitarist with Queen says he doesn't like THAT song (?!!), Freddie Mercury's sort of dead, we couldn't remember the other bloke's name actually so it couldn't go to him, so that just left the drummer, who in accordance with EU Rock Star Regulations was floating around the Med on his yacht.
[Scene switches to a quayside... somewhere on the Med.] Right... in a moment we're going to present Roger Taylor with this Greatest Driving Song Trophy, which we purchased for the princely sum of 699 pence. The only slight problem is the local engraver is a bit rubbish frankly, and he's left the DON'T out of "Don't Stop Me Now" - for crying out loud.
[On deck...] Roger Taylor, on behalf of Top Gear I'd like to present you with this Greatest Driving Song In The World Ever Award. It's to you and the other members of Queen for "Stop Me Now". I'm sorry it's such a poor quality trophy.
ROGER TAYLOR: No, no, no. no, don't say that. No actually, do. Yeah, we'll treasure this for ever and it'll go into our enormous Gong Cupboard and thank you on behalf of the band. Thank you so much to your viewers.
